Have you ever had a turkey sit in your lap and beg you to pet it till it fell asleep? Or, had a goat ask you to scratch its ear? Well, now you can. Fill your heart at Patchwork Pastures Animal Sanctuary, home to over 100 farm animals located in Wantage, NJ.
Three of the six boys rescued! They don't have names but came from a home where they lived in an unheated shed, no hay, windows, doors or heat lamps. They ate through the floor to stay warm in 9 degree weather. Big guy was headed to be euthanized as aggressive and dangerous. He is a love bug, not an ounce of aggression since his removal.
Peanut & Butter were surrendered after their family had been killed by fox. These guys were two of three who survived. Peanut sports a black ring on his eye and Butter, sweet as she is, sports a heart on her back. They love spinach salad and grapes!
Bernard is as sweet as can be, a super playful cuddly little guy. Bernard came to us October 2020 a loving home who just couldn't dedicate the time he needed, so Patchwork Pastures is now his forever home. Bernard loves FOOD and his piggy friends!
Penelope was brought to us when her family reached out because their daughter was going away to college and they could no longer care for her. She is a little skittish but a love once she gets her belly rubbed.
Another brave little man rescued in the February rescue where 16 mini pigs were removed from unlivable conditions, subject to freezing weather conditions with no hay, heat or water with a shed they chewed through the floor to burrow into the frozen dirt to keep warm. Brave boy!
Four of the ten lovely ladies rescued in the February rescue where 16 mini pigs were removed from unlivable conditions, subject to freezing weather conditions with no hay, heat or water with a shed they chewed through the floor to burrow into the frozen dirt to keep warm. These girls are all expecting.
Truffle is the proud new mama to seven little dwarfs, totally unexpected surprise. These little ones are a joy to see every day and are thriving, even after many sleepless nights dripping formula into the runts mouth just to keep him going.
Hamlet is our only foster piggy. He is a joy to have at the sanctuary but will be reunited with his family once their housing is sorted. These are rough times and its not easy getting a home that allows pigs, so they're buying him a new home! That is pure love!
Percy the Peacock was taken in after his family moved away and left him behind with neighbors. Not having any experience raising a Peahen chick they surrendered her to us at 4 months of age. Today Percy is as sassy as they come. She loves grapes and likes to sunbathe on warm days.
Gravy the Turkey is very curious since she joined us and seeks out human interaction. After being rescued from falling into a koi pond Gravy has become extremely affectionate, loves long cuddles, grapes, and a cool towel on hot day.
Cranberry the Turkey was brought to the sanctuary by a very loving family. Her companion had passed away and she was terribly lonely, so they made the decision to bring her to us where she could enjoy the company of the flock here at the sanctuary.
Elsa joined the sanctuary November 2020. She originally was surrendered to an exotic bird rescue, Under My Wing Avian Refuge, but farm life is where she belonged, so we accepted her with the companion Anna.

Henry is a 15 year old Sun Conure who was a "sell it quick" bird at a pet store because of infected pin feathers and was a great deal they said. They have no idea how much joy Henry has brought to our family. He has aided in the recovery of all our children with his amazing personality and cuddle ability. AND he loves grapes!
Pebbles is quiet but sassy. Not a real people person she maintains her distance but is very curious and will come running for that very special treat......Grapes! Pebbles enjoys mountain climbing and scratching for natural treats in dirt piles.
Over 30 chickens have found their forever home here at the sanctuary. Photos will be added as we make our round getting pretty pictures of all.
